Well, the stage is now set. Or so it would seem if it was not exactly for the price of the recently released Google product – Google Nexus Q.

nexusqGoogle Nexus Q is the set-top box – or rather, a sphere – that sits next to your TV, ready to stream content from Google Play (the Android Market) or from your Android device through a variety of inputs like HDMI, Ethernet, NFC, Bluetooth and WiFi.

This, folks, is the competitor that is aimed at Apple TV.

Google Nexus Q specifications indicate that it does nearly as much as, if not more than, the Apple TV set-top box. In many ways, it’s the Android version of Apple TV, although it lets you stream content from Google Play for free. You can also pair up your Android smartphone to the Nexus Q and stream content like photos and videos directly to your television.

Amazingly though, Google Nexus Q price in USA is a costly $299 – about two hundred bucks costlier than Apple TV. We have no idea why Google has priced the thing so much – but the fact that you can get movies from Google Play streamed live and HD YouTube videos directly played on your TV does not come as a real justification for the price.

The real value of Google TV – or henceforth, Google Nexus Q – is that it will be a great device pairing up with your Android smartphones letting you do some cool things like buy content from your smartphone and stream it to your television via Google Nexus Q.
