2013-android-top-10We have seen countless articles about the top flagship phones like the Samsung Note 2 and the iPhone 5. But in this economy, not a lot of us can afford these devices. And with the holidays, our money will be spent more on gifts than on an expensive phone.

Fortunately, there are a lot of Android phones out there that have mid-tier specs. The specs might not be as great as those in the current flagship phones, but if you go back to about 6 months, these specs are top of the line back then.

To help you find that affordable midrange phone that fits your budget, here are some of the top mid-tier Android phones in the market that can be had for under $100:

LG Spectrum 2 ($99 with 2-yeat contract – Verizon)
Of all the midrange phones in the market, this phone definitely has one of the best designs, making it look and feel like it is a premium phone. But aside from looking good, this phone does pack some power. With a dual-core chip clocking in at 1.5GHz, it gave users quick and smooth experience. It also has Android ICS with NFC capabilities. It also runs on Verizon’s 4G network making browsing and VoIP service calls almost trouble-free. Of, course, you would have to deal with a lot of bloatware that Verizon packed this phone with and the camera could be better, but at $100 this phone is a steal.

Motorola Droid Razr ($99 with 2-year contract – Verizon)
This phone has a lot of what makes the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx great without the super-long battery life. But make no mistake; it still has a pretty good battery especially if you have the ICS upgrade. It combines the sleek design that is signature “Razr” with “Droid Does” Android goodness. It has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen that is scratch resistant. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core TI OMAP chip. It has an 8MP shooter that takes decent pictures. But what are really great about it are its multimedia capabilities including Slacker radio app and its own built-in music app. It is also bundled with Netflix and plays it on HD from a 4G network.

Samsung Galaxy Express ($99 with 2-year contract –AT&T)
If you are a multimedia lover and a fan of Samsung, then this mid-range phone is for you. This dual-core processor powered phone’s Super AMOLED screen gives vibrant and clear display for pictures, videos, and even TV shows and movies. It also has 4G coverage for blazing fast Internet connection. Like the S3, it has NFC capabilities for quick sharing of your files. Plus, it gives you access to Samsung’s Media Hub, Kindle for Android, Game Hub, and Music Hub for your multimedia needs.

HTC One VX ($49 with 2-year contract – AT&T)
The recently launched mid-range phone from HTC gives you a lot of bang for your very small buck. It’s got a 1.2 GHz dual-core snapdragon chip, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and expandable memory slot that can accommodate up to 32 GB. And with HTC’s Image sense, the 5 MP shooter takes better shots than some 8 MP shooters in the market today.

HTC One X ($99 with 2-year contract –AT&T)A special mention goes to HTC One X, which is also available through AT&T for just $99 through a 2-year contract. This is more than just a midrange phone as this was HTC’s flagship phone just a couple of months ago and it rivals the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the specs department.
